About Me!

Introducing..... Breelin Obmann!!!=]

Hello! My name is Breelin Obmann and I am 19 years old. I am a human development major and plan on doing the speech pathology masters program here at CSUSM. I currently work at Temecula Valley Fitness in the kids club. I love working with kids, which is why I want to become a speech therapist in elementary schools. I was born in Redlands, California and lived in San Bernardino until i was six years old. I went to preschool, kindergarten and half of my first grade year in San Bernardino. From there I moved to Temecula, California where i continued to go to school all the way though high school. I attended Paloma Elementary, Temecula Middle School and Temecula Valley High School. I graduated high school in 2010 and then started coming to Cal State San Marcos in the Fall. I'm in my second year at CSUSM and so far I love it!

When it comes to computers and technology, I'd say that I have an average knowledge level. I know how to use the basics like word, power point, email, etc. but the i videos and blogging is all new to me. I do have an iphone which has taught me a lot more then I use to know, but hopefully ED422 will give me a broader range of knowledge in technology.

Even though I don't plan on being a teacher, I will still be working with children in speech therapy. Therefore, the College of Education Mission Statement is important to me because it shows that what I want to do is important to the school and that there is pride in providing a good education for those of us who will be helping and educating children in the future. It helped me in deciding to stay at CSUSM instead of transferring to another school for the speech pathology masters program.

  2. My aunt is a speech therapist at a high school in Los Angeles, it's a very rewarding career!
    My little brother had a slight lisp and the speech pathology lab at his school (Solana Pacific in San Diego) was wonderful for him.

  3. While you won't be a formal instructor at a school, you will be closely related to the schools more than likely. This course seems pretty interesting because you get to help kids in ways that classroom teachers can not. I wish you luck in the masters program!

  4. I think that is awesome that you are going to be a speech therapist!! My dad said he had problems with his R's growing up and pronounced them as W's until my Grandma sent him to a speech therapist and helped him. :) Good luck with your degree!! I'm sure you will be working very closely with teachers of all levels. :)

  5. I have a friend who works as a speech pathologist at a public school, and she loves it! Not only does she enjoy working with children, she is able to have a fairly flexible work schedule so that she has time to spend with her own daughter.
